About the Artist
Matthias Seifarth is an illustrator based in Berlin.
Matthias graduated from the University of Design in Münster and has worked for several years in different advertising agencies such as Springer & Jacoby and “Santamaria in Hamburg as a graphic designer and art director.
Since Matthias decided to work full time as an illustrator he has worked for various publications such as Rolling Stone or J’N’C among others. His work has been published as one of the most exciting new illustrators in “Illustration Now!” 5 with the words: “The fine line between beauty and imperfection is the place where my characters begin to tell their own story.”
As the youngest of three siblings living in an nice and huge neighborhood with lonesome old people, strange families and funny aunts Matthias as a child found drawing the best way to express what he saw.
“This is what interests me the most: To capture a certain essence from ones character. With my illustrations I want to describe our society, and us as a whole.
I love making fun of myself and the people who I am supposed, pushed by the media to follow and respect.
Everyone in our society regardless of which social class they belong to is a victim of pop culture therefore caricature is for me a kind reminder for all of us. Caricatures are also pretty good at translating the fact that we are pretty much all the same.
